Cooling Off and Heating Up When I was a teenager I discovered I have powers that allow me to control and influence people's thoughts. At first, I used these abilities to get things I wanted whether it was a new girlfriend or a new car. After college I went into sales and had a terrific career. I was on track to upper management and a corner office. But after just a few short years, manipulating others for the benefit of a corporation felt unrewarding, and I was getting bored with the challenge anyway. So I quit my lucrative job and decided to just take the summer off while figuring out what I wanted to do next. My favorite thing to do in the summertime was to sit out in the sun with the occasional dunk in the water to cool off, so I joined a high end country club with my only ambition for the next couple months but to be a poolrat. The story so far... Chapter 2 > Chapter 1 > Prologue Chapter 3: Meeting of the Minds Kira and I were together for about a month, a little longer than Christine and I had dated. Our bond however, was much more strong and intimate than the bond between Christine and I. Kira was a much more private person than Christine, and tended to be a homebody. She told me she placed a higher value on time when it was just the two of us together. “I don’t need the world to see me on your arm to know that we’re together,” she told me. “I’ll know we’re together simply because we are.” Kira was always very direct, and never one to mince words. Right off the bat, she had addressed me as her master and herself as my slave. Defining our relationship in these strict transactional terms had made me uncomfortable. I had to specifically command Kira not to call me Master or Sir or Majesty. But she insisted on calling me something with an air of importance to it. We had settled on some words like

She was well liked for her personality and attention to detail and had worked her way up after several summers. It was assumed that she would have been promoted to pool manager, when the previous manager announced he was leaving part way through the summer. However, an outside candidate named Brooke had been hired. Julie was absolutely lovely in so many ways. She had long blonde hair (usually tied up in a bun), perfectly tanned skin, long toned legs, and a smile that would melt anyone’s heart. She was incredibly fit and active and had just missed qualifying for the Olympic swim team by a fraction of a second. She was whip smart and nobody’s fool.
